2 Party Plans

Discussions : General discussion : 2 Party Plans

Hi All,

I was wondering who does 2 party plan businesses. Do you promote the other business when you are doing the other at a party plan? Has this helped your other business? Do you find to difficult to juggle both businesses? Or do you do both because you don't make enough money from the other and get enough leads.

The reason I asked because I became interested in another PP from a person who was adveristing for Sydney consultants and whether I should take another on board. I was interested in what they where selling.

Hi Marie,   theres always heaps of different opinions surface when we discuss representing more than one company etc. etc.  I must admit though its new to see someone that runs there on Party Plan company to want to join another one - but obviously something has really caught your eye which is great!    Do you think maybe the "new" company is one that you could approach to see if you could also market their products under your own PP company name?   This way you still get to promote the fabulous product that has caught your eye, the "other" company potentially gets more sales, and it still lets you dedicate yourself to your own company 100%.

I can't say I know of this happening yet - but many companies out there are approachable to new ideas.  Especially if you put it to them the right way.

Good luck!   Kath

Hi Kath,

My company is totally different. I make natural skin care the other company sells alcohol, oils and vinegars. I received a brochure from another consultant because I liked what I saw and wanted to have a party, unfortunately they don't have any consultants in Sydney so I thought to myself this sounds really good and could be fun. It would probably good for me to get away from my own business at times, just a break you could call it. I have never worked for another PP before and never wanted to until I saw a catalogue. I like the idea that both companies are totally different.

HI Marie,

Just thinking here. You have your own company and  noticed  from previous posts that you are also recruiting.

What will your consultants think when they find out you are also doing another  party plan company?

They might question your dedication and committment to your company, the company that they themselves are committing 100% dedication to, but not the boss. this in turn might then affect your own companies growth.

Also ask yourself can you really dedicate 100% to running an organistation ( your own company)  if you are doing another party plan company.

It all depends how serious you are about your own companies growth and committment. If you  want to run a successful and profitable company then you will need to dedicate yourself entirely to your own company, your recruits and your product for that to happen.

I do not know your goals at this stage and this is just an opinion

Hi Marie,

You might like to read the following post http://partyplan.com/forum/topic.php?tid=2615 - a couple of posts in there showing that it can be done.

Good luck with it all

Rach :)

Good luck with both your ventures Marie.

One of the best things about doing party plan, as Marina often tells us, is that you are able to run your business to suit your family life and other businesses/occupations. As women we seem to wear so many hats every day anyway, why not make use of this in business.

I think it is fantastic that you are taking on a second business that will offer you a break and a learning experience that will in the long term benefit you and your own company. If you love what you sell then you can do it.

As for promoting both at a booking, I personally would not do this. I am of the belief that if I go to a demo to look at product x I am not interested in looking at product y at the same time. Make sure however that all your hosts know that you do more than one thing, they may be interested in hosting the second option for you down the track. As said in another thread here somewhere, make sure everyone you know is aware of what you do.

If you think these two products are totally different and this is one of the reasons you want to do the second one, then maybe they would not be able to be promoted at one party. Having said that there is no reason you can't promote them together for things like fundraisers and markets. As you do skincare I am sure you are using your own products anyway each time you go anywhere, what great advertising in itself!

I am sure you will find the perfect balance... and have loads of fun doing it.

Marie replied:

Hi Marina,

I totally disagree with you entirely. I am dedicated to my own business. I won't be doing the other business full-time, a couple of parties a week will be fine. I am doing it just to have a break from running my own business. I put a lot effort in runnning a business that sometimes you need something else, just like having a holiday without the cost. My business is very small at the moment so I see it as okay. Once the business gets too big I may have to quit. Who knows. The company I am looking at suits my professional background and I think I will really enjoy it. I love liqueurs. If you are passionate about both companies I can't see why it won't work and I am the type of person who tries to put 100% in everything I do and always passionate about what I do. I used to got to Uni during the day and college at night and I graduated from both. I always like to look outside my square. You never know what you may find.

A big thankyou to Rach for your vote of confidence. Yes it can be done,

Marie

HI Marie,

I said  I did not know what your goals are, and just by reading previous posts noticed you were running your own business and hiring recruits.

My opinion was based on that fact, and again it is just an opinion.

Just remember Marie, You can do anything in this world and the world is your oyster. Party plan is magnifecent and I do commend you for opening up your own business. That is terrific!

Each person is different and their capabilities are different and only you know what you are capable of.

If this is the road you want to take then by all means take it and excel in both.

As many of you know now that i have signed up with 2 PP. One is as a catalogue consultant and the other is my PP. I dont think im going to find it very hard to dedicate myself to 2 jobs. I find this as being a bit of a challenge. If i decide to do SF as a PP, which is in the cards later down the track, it just means im going to be having twice the fun doing my parties.

Good luck with your decision Marie. In the end, its your choice on what you choice to do. If you feel that you can dedicate your self to the two PP, then go for it. If you find that it is to hard to do, then at least you gave it a go. I dont think you will have a problem. A change is as good as a holiday.

Patty.

Marie replied:

Thankyou all.

Although I have not joined the other company yet I thought I would get evreybodies opinion, but I am excited because it will be my first PP I have ever joined. i am yet to met one of the consultants flying in from Adelaide (my home town) and we will take it from there. I will give it a go and see how it goes. No harm in trying. It will be a good lesson.
