Hi everybody,
As many of you know, I am starting my own party plan business.
I am working on my (very thorough) business plan and need some stats. It is impossible to find them on the net. I have not hosted any parties and have only been to a few so I need some help here.
I need some basic information like:
Why did you get into party plan
How much money is the average sales from your parties
What sort of person is the most likely to hostess a party
What is the best time of year for party plan businesses
What do you hate/like most about your business.
Do you think PP business is growing, static or falling
Etc. etc
Please PM me if you can help. All information will be confidential and no names used. I will not use any information to your, or your companies detriment. I just need facts to make future plans and be able to help my consultants better.

Would people be interested if we created a "party plan census" with the results (obviously only private/aggregated statistics) being made freely and publically available to everyone?
Could be a handy resource for everyone in their business planning!

It could be very handy resource, at least for curiosity anyway. - Thanks Mr PP - just add it to your evergrowing to do list.
And asking for basic information really sounds 'desperate' (for want of a bettter word, sorry). One also has to be careful when answering/advertising such things as averages, or 'earn up to $xx per hour with us' - such claims have to be substansiated by fact or otherwise you can become very liable.
(ok, a little off topic there for a minute) but my point is
1. There are NO averages, everything is so different for each industry. 2. You can research until you are blue in the face and find the PERFECT answers and there are still going to be questions left unanswered.

Rowan, I would just like to say that your honesty is applauded! We tend to get a lot of members on here that pose as a potential customer or recruit when all they are actually after is our Companies information so that they can start their own similar party plan company. For instance recently somebody on here asked for jewellery party plan consultants to contact her - from the replies posted I beleive she had quite a bit of response from Jewellery consultants on here from all sorts of companies. Next thing we know - this member announces that they have started their own PP business!
So Rowan, once again thank you for your honesty & all the very best - and to THAT other member a big "raspberry" sent your way! (I'm sure there a few other members out there that would like to do the same) Take a leaf out of Rowan's book - and treat fellow Party Planners with some respect!

SaucyKath, thanks *kiss*, I was always taught to be upfront with everything I do and the only reason I posted here was because I am finding it hard to get the information anywhere else (and those who have experience are the best to ask). I have no intention of stepping on toes and my plans are already made, just need verification to put on paper.
As far as I am aware, my plans do not clash or directly compete with anyone here, or I would not have asked. I don't need other companies secret info as what I am doing is not really like most other PP companies.

I am currently doing the neis course(new enterprise business scheme) and need as much market research as possible.
I am creating my own party plan business, in Melbourne and hoping to be successful within a year.
I have done much research but if anyone can give me some pointer in the right direction that would be much appreciated.
