At the moment I do not accept credit cards, as I have been testing the water with my new business and it is now doing quite well. I was wondering what would be the best option for me to accept credit cards and what are the cost implications for each method. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Sue

speek to your bank about opening a merchant account.

i have a manual system (swipe thingy) and I can't actually remember how much it cost to start up, but at a guess around $75. then I pay $22 a month and approx. 3.3% on the amount that I deposit. It's definitely well worth having as a lot of people use plastic these days, as well as people tend to buy more or BUY period... because they can pay it off.

You might even be able to see some merchant options if you go to your banks website. I find the banks website a bit daunting. It's much easier to go and speak to someone at the bank.

the stationery etc. is all free.

Hi,

I found that Suncorp offers an excellent business account package that includes a really good deal on an electronic EFTPOS machine.

They say that it is "free" for the first 12 mths, but of course there are certain applicable charges involved. I found that is still  a better deal than most banks are offering at the moment. (these things change all the time)

Unfortunately it is not a cordless one, but still works offsite if you have access to a phone line and power point. I find that most people (me included) buy everything on plastic these days and just don't carry cash. This also gives the benefit of being able to offer eftpos as well (savings/cheque acct) not just credit card payment. Having this on offer means we can request payment at time of order, and no-one needs to have the cash on them.

Regards,

Andrea.
