I'm officially unemployed    I got fired on Monday because I refused to tell them why I was in hospital last week.

Hi Claire, I am really sorry to hear your place of employment has treated you in this way. Without knowing all the facts, i would have thought if you had some kind of medical certificate that this would have covered you and that they wouldnt be able to fire you. You are entitled to your privacy and if your time in hospital was for something personal that you would rather not discuss i dont say how they can sack you if you are covered by a medical certificate. Medical certificates dont have to state what your problems were, but only to state there was a medical condition. I guess the length of time you have been employed there might come into it and how much time you have had off. I am not sure of the legal side of it as all the job laws changed earlier this year. In any case i do feel for you as you certainly didnt need the added stress on top of what you have already been going through.

So as princess has just said. Lets hope as one door has closed another one will open for you very soon. Good luck and all the very best.

Hi Claire,

I am going to be really postive here for you and say this is a good thing that has happened to you,  (but cannot believe that they are within their rights........ to do this to you.) No employer has the right to sack you if you have a medical certificate to prove your  illness and for privacy reasons the illness does not have to be stated....

This door has closed and the door that has opened is the party plan door. See this business as a career and not a hobby and you will excel.

You  however  have to decide if you want to work for someone else, or give party plan your full dedication and succeed to a top level.. ( you can do it)

It will offer you passive income and freedom from a job.

Go out there and get the bookings and the recruits and watch your success grow......

Sometimes things happen for  reason ............

Claire, ring your state's Industrial Relations department - I found them really helpful once before when I had an employment issue, and they should be able to point you in the right direction.  I am of the understanding that employers cannot dismiss you on the basis of illness.

Keep your chin up, as the others said when one door closes another opens - good luck!!

ExMember148 replied:

Employers can do anything nowadays - let's thank the current government for that one !!

kathymollie replied:

TOTALLY AGREE WITH HUSH HUSH..........
Unfortunately due to the recent changes in industrial relations , the employers have all the power and employees have very little or none at all....IT IS WRONG...and all employees in Australia should rise up and revolt against the present governments' abhorrent IR laws...
Claire now you must make something good come out of this and succeed in your own business...you can do it and make yourself proud..
I wish you every success and good luck..
Kind regards.......Kathy

Im sorry to hear what they did to you Claire. The mongrels.

That is the beauty of PP. We only have to answer to ourselves.  Dont worry. Carma will get them. I hope a new door opens for you. You deserve it.

Good luck with your future. Just keep smiling.

Sounds like they were "looking" for an excuse and used a really bad one. Sorry that you have lost your job, but like the others girls have said, one door closes and another opens.

Good luck with finding something that will be much much better than where you were.

Marie replied:

You can blame John Howard for this.

SaucyKath replied:

Hi Clare,   just wanted to say "What a bummer" but remember every cloud has a silver lining.

Take this time to re-evaluate EVERYTHING & move on and GROW!  Look at it as if you've been unleashed from your "real" job and job right into your Party Plan business AND GO FOR IT!  If you're not 100% happy with your current company - nows a great time to investigate the possibilities and see which company can take you to your biggest DREAM ever!

ClaireHogan replied:

Thanks for all your support ladies. Marie is right on this one - thanks to John Howard, there's nothing I can do. I supplied the company with not only a normal medical certificate, but also with copies of the discharge paperwork (which I didn't have to do as it's none of their business) and they still gave me the boot.

But, onward and upward! Have been applying for part time jobs so I still have a steady income but I can concentrate more on selling jewellery!

CustomCandles replied:

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with work.

Keep your chin up, onward and upward.  Good luck with finding a part time job.

SaucyKath replied:

Claire, my 7yo old and I are meeting John Howard tomorrow morning at a function - want me to kick him in the shins for you?

ClaireHogan replied:

If you could kick him really hard, I'd be ever so grateful

Zammy replied:

Kath - I would definately have a little chat with him about the current IR laws and how well they just treated someone you know!

Claire - You are definately keeping a positive attitude about your situation, good on you! I'm with Marina and Kath on this one, use this opportunity to really grow your PP business and perhaps you won't need that part time job after all! Good luck!!!

trinature replied:

Hi Claire

I just wanted to say I am so happy you did not say why you where in hospital, it is none of there business. I am sorry you lost your job though, but I like to look at it as their loss is your gain.

Go kick some ass, weather it is in PP or something else I hope you make your mark.
