Personally, as a customer, if I went to one of these and found 1 cosmetic, jewellery, fashion, lingerie etc company. I would think BORING. That and the fact that maybe I don't like/can't wear a certain product that is on display. People want choice and variety. And also as a customer, if I am going to pay an entry fee, which most of them do charge, I want to be given lots of products to view.
Yes you may have the BEST product in the world, but that doesn't mean you should exclude every other product that is similar. Competition is healthy. In fact, if I went around 'bad mouthing' or 'rubbishing' every other company in the same industry as I, it would do me more harm then good. I am finding it is a lot more productive to unite with other party plan companies for the good of your own.
Also, if I was attending one of these with the view to joining a company, I would definitely not be joining then and there on the spot with the only company available, I would be doing my research and looking around at what is available.
(Oh and BTW, yes, I have organised many of these events before.)

You have made some excellen points Julie. All of which I totally agree with. I have both been to and participate in a few of these events.
One that I went to only had one skincare company represented. Ok fair enough, the organisers choice. Not to be rude I had a look at their products but when I told the consultant that I couldnt use their products because they gave me a rash her whole attitude towards me changed. One minute she is trying to sell to me and asking to join the next she was completely ignoring me. Oh well.
Variety is the spice of life and we all are free to make choices. Something not all peopleaccept willingly in the above case.
