Hi,

I joined Nutrimetics last week and I only have one person who is willing to have a party for me. I'm talking with her tonight, so its not even guaranteed that she will be able to invite enough people.

I just dont have the personality to pressure people for sales and everyone I already know is not interested at all in the products. I just wanted to do this as a bit of extra money (I work full time), but I dont have the time to try and look for people to hold parties for me.

I dont like to feel like a quitter - but I dont think I can succeed at this. Is it too early for me to quit? I guess I will hold this first party and see how it goes from there.....it would be a group of ladies in their fifties.

:-)

You could work out something with a school or charity to do a Nutrimetics Fundraiser.  Offer them a nice percentage of your commission from the sales of products.  If you need any help with what to do or how to do it, feel free to message me.

Hi there,

It's can be really tough to get going in party plan but hang in there. Have you thought about holding an open house? That way people get to have a look at your products without feeling obligated to buy. Have a door prize and great incentives to book their own party. If all fails, maybe catalogue sales will keep you going until you have a customer base you can call on to host a party. Maybe someone from work would hold a party for you. Just a few thoughts, hope they help a little.

GOOD LUCK dont give up before you get started, it's a fantastic industry with unlimited potential you just have to keep plugging away at it.

when you do party plan it does not mean your very first venture will be successful. It would be ideal if it was the case, but life is not that easy or fair.

do not be disheartened and use this as an experience to learn by. Give it a go , do  not give up just yet and if you cannot get anywhere with it then I would suggest to try something else.

I have been through 3 before I came to the one that has been successful.

also do some research and find out why you are not getting bookings or people are not interested.

this will help you understand the reasons why you are not able to make it work.

I have not got  the personality to pressure people for sales and everyone I already know is not interested at all in the products.

In my party plan I never pressure people for sales at all  and i believe should never pressure anyone into buying anything. Do not think like you need to pressure anyone. A truly successful person will never need to use pressure tactics. If you feel you have to pressure people into buying your product then i truly believe that  this particular party plan is not the way to go.

Let us know how you go.

Hi nell_w,  I'm not entirely sure how Nutrimetics works - and the do's and don't associated but perhaps you can focus more on catalogue sales and catalogue parties to start you off.    We have a large group of Catalogue Consultants with Saucy Fish that earn a great income from it - infact one of our Catalogue Consultants even took out HIGHEST SALES for one month out of ALL Consultants australia wide (including party plan consultants).

Have a chat to your Managers, and see what support and ideas they are able to give you.   It still is very early days - and also remember that as you do have another full time position that you could probably even make some great sales around your workplace.

Its totally true there really is very high potential in the Party Plan industry AND YOU DEFINITELY DON'T NEED TO BE PUSHY.   Infact if you did have a pushy type of personality you'd probably find your PP career a short lived one! (nobody likes a pushy sales person)  Have a love for your products & they really should sell themselves.

The very best of luck to you;  Kath

Hi

I agree, the first thing that puts me off is a pushy party planner, I have a manager that is not pushy but there are many in our company that are very pushy. Just be yourself and everything else will fall into place.

I used to be a Party Plan Consultant for an Adult Party Plan company and they were pretty pushy about me getting parties.  It didnt help when a lady booked a party and then cancelled, twice.  I have also been with Avon and had a pushy Area Manager, and the Training Rep was a nasty selfish old biddy.  She had so many territories, wasnt working them all, and when a customer approached me, she expected me to hand the customer over to her!

.

There are plenty of people on here that can offer support, and I am sure some of us wouldnt mind if you sent Private messages asking for help or hints.   We are all here to help.

.

I hope you give Nutrimetics a little more time and try a couple of things before totally giving up.  Good Luck.  I hope you get a few customers soon.

Thanks for all the words of support. I will stick in there!

Trouble is that I dont have a permanent full time job - I am a temp, so I am always in a different workplace. Yes, you are all probably going to jump up and say "even better - you can get so many sales now!" but as I am not in a job for long, I dont feel comfortable approaching the people I work with because I dont know them very well. Thats why I think my personality just isnt suited to this kind of work.

But I will give it a bit more of a chance before I make any decisions to quit.

Thanks again

In regards to your post I'm just not suited to this...

I totally understand where you are at.  Firstly if this is your first time it is all very knew and there is a lot to learn.  You are in the right place have a look through the various posts for Ideas on bookings etc.  I would use my own contact list firstly by contacting your friends, family, neighbors, etc to tell them what you are up.  You could phone or post out letters to everyone maybe with current specials etc.  I also recommend having a launch party at your home.  One way to sell is to talk to every body about what you are up to be excited and passionate.  If people aren't interested thats fine the next person may be.  Ring around or send letters to local organisations, clubs, schools, churches etc informing them that you are new in the area and if they require a consultant for fund raising to get in touch with you.  Party Plan fund raising nights are quite popular.  Maybe even a small add in the local paper.  There are many ways to get leads but it does take time an effort on your behalf.  My advice is to keep trying and if this one doesn't work there are heaps of other company's to choose from.  The company that I have just joined have a probation period so if it turns out I don't like it or they are not happy with me I can get a refund which is great, but I am very happy and look forward to a great future in my PP business.

Best of Luck to you Regards Julie
