You can fax via your computer.  You can do it through software like Winfax if you have a modem (but I don't know if that's compatible with Vista, I used it a few years back for a company I was working for, you could have a look at the Symantic (?sp) website.)

You can also do it through your email using an internet faxing service (google fax via email or fax via internet and that should bring up a list of providers, they charge a fee and your faxes get delivered to your inbox, you don't need your own modem ie great for cable adsl users) mbox.com.au or efax.com.au are aussie ones.

That's about the extent of my knowledge I'm afraid - I use my Mam's fax machine or I scan and email!!

Hi Julie,   GUESS WHAT?   It's all true! - Great minds do think alike!!       Just last week I joined up with a service so I can receive my faxes via email.   Check out www.mbox.com.au - I did look around a bit and decided to go with this one - seems pretty good so far, and ALL faxes I've received have come through brilliantly.

Well I have researched them all and am still not convinced this is the way to go.  At $10 a month (average),  you could buy a decent fax.

Yes but have you checked out how much it is to have a new fax line put in?   I actually don't think 10 bucks a month is that dear - and the service suits me at this stage.  I also like the way its a local Australia fax number that you are allocated - a few of them I came across were OS numbers.

Ask and ye shall receive.  My sister had a fax, not using, and it had been sitting waiting to be put to use.  Just hadn't got around to the put to use part.  So I installed that today.  Yeah!! Admittedly, now it's a phone/fax, so that is going to take some getting used to.  Thanks all.
