Always wrong?

Discussions : Off your chest... : Always wrong?

Does anyone else ever find that they have people in theirs lives who must insist that they are always wrong?

I am a member on many forum sites, but there is one in particular that I am starting to find quite frustrating. No matter what I post it is wrong, ten other people can post about a topic, and I can agree with what was said, and one particular member jumps in and has a go at me every time. I don't even need to say anything new, all I need to say is "I agree" and I get an earful.

I am really getting to the stage of just not bothering to post in any thread that this person has posted in.

I know we are all entitled to our opinions, but surely that means I am also entitled to mine.

Sorry to rave, I just needed to get it off my chest.

Yes Cath.  That can be a problem, hence in general I dislike forums.  But a forum is just that, for opinions to be expressed.  You don't have to agree with them or like them.  Sometimes, even it is easier for people just to say nothing, rather than insist they are right all the time.  It would be easier that way.  I have learnt, if I don't agree with something or have a terrible dislike to it, I just DON'T post in that topic.

PS  :  so far, partyplans forum members have all been fantastic and I really LOVE this site for it's members and the whole atmosphere here!!!

I have not had the problem on this forum, in fact it wi with only one person one one particular forum. I just needed to offload.

It is a pity though that forums can sometimes be taken too personally, as you say it is all opinions and sometimes what we read isnt always what was intended to be said (I hope thay make sense).

I find it sad that I have been "jumped on" not for disagreeing but for  agreeing and supporting what others have posted LOL. I am happy to be wrong, but surely I am not the ONLY who is wrong when a group of people have all exressed the same opinion!

Hi Cath,

What you have described sounds pretty awful.

I would be really annoyed about that too. I would be inclined to check the profile of the particular "naysayer" and read all their past posts to see if they are always so negative to others as well. I am of the assumption that sometimes people will just be blunt and say impolite stuff that they wouldn't normally say since they figure they are anonymous. ( a bit cowardly really)

Maybe they have nothing better to do than annoy people. Some people huh?!

Try not to let it get to you.

Regards,

Andrea.

Hi Cath,

I know it's so annoying when this happens, but why not try different tactic - one I've used with great success and satisfaction. When she gives you a hard time, reply sprecifically to her message and be as nice as you can possibly be. Patronise the heck out of her and lay it on as thick as you can.

I do this if a situation like this arises and it really works.  I love watching them get so ticked off - it's very satisfying to know you've been able to get your own back but, in a way that doesn't bring you down to their level.

They are trying to start an arguement and when you agree with them and are soooo polite about it - the argument goes no-where and they're left looking stupid, which they totaly hate.
