Hello Everyone!

I found this excellent forum and want to join your group!  I'm a stay-at-home mum with an online business selling baby and kids clothing imported from Europe and the US.  I hope I will find all my answers to starting out my own Party Plan... from scratch :)  I have never ever attended a party plan and I'm quite new with my business also... My website has only been online for 1 year and I have learnt soooo much and now I want to venture out to doing parties and making my business grow.

Hope i'm here for a long time ;-) and make some wonderful friends.

Cheers

Thank-you ladies for your warm Welcome!

I'm a little worried though, as i have no idea where to start! i've placed an order with overseas and importing the goods such as Oshkosh, Gymboree, Disney, Oilily (surplus excess stock with labels attached to the garments), the order was small lots of each example 6 or 12 pcs per style.... but it cost quite a bit.... therefore i'm a little worried of how i'm going to tackle this new range of clothing.  My idea was to start my own party plan but have no clue as where i should start!  My auntie is quite happy to do one for me as she has plenty of friends that are into kids clothing specially designer labels.  I'm not quite sure how to set up the paperwork for the party as i have no clue what commission to give if someone is interested in hosting their own using my stock.  I guess that what i'm asking for is where do i start????? i'm soooo nervous, i have a 21mth (first child) who is in need of my attention all the time and i've been a little under pressure with my website orders and ording stock and wanting to set up this party plan thing.  I've had a look through this site but can't seem to find any templates of order forms, contract arrangements or commission paperwork so i can show all of these things at my party and it looks professional.  I want to be totally prepared when my stock comes and have terms and conditions in place.

I'm doing quite well with my online business but i truly want to venture out into party plan as i think when mums look at the clothing first hand they will fall in love with it.

I have my racks ready to go and all hangers (black very nice) and i did start selling at daycare centres as thats where i've sold most of my other stock.... i went really well :) i would leave my rack there with sample of the clothing and mums would leave orders and i would pick up the monies and deliver once a week.  But now i would really love to do party plans as i've been told by my friends  that the stock will do very well specially at the prices i'm offering.

So not sure if i've posted in the right spot - i've got soooooo many questions! and i would love some to give me some type of guide as to where i should start.  I want to hold the first party myself even though i lack a little confidence but i'm fired up and have a very very positive attitude towards business and setting something secure for my daughter in the long run as we don't have much family here and she is all that matters to me.

Thanks in advance :)

Kind Regards,

Andrea :)

Angelistic, I have PM'd you ....you certainly have a good selection of good quality brands coming in. Sounds like a good idea selling thru Child Care Centres.

Hello and Welcome

You will find lots of information on here, though I am not sure you will find what you are after - someone who has done it all for you.  Templates, contracts etc, are very personal.  People have either spent a lot of money or time or both to get these together for their own business.  So I guess thats one piece of information - you need a lot of time to 'set up'  a party plan company.  It doesn't happen overnight, I can vouch for that.  If you have the money, then there are lots of place you can go for someone to set you up with the templates etc you need.  Though this is very costly.

Your website looks fab and your clothes are very nice.  Stick with what is working for you for now - take baby steps ! Why not just do a few private in home demonstrations with your own stock yourself for now ?  Not actually 'pushing' the party plan side of it.  More private consultations with a few friends ?  Also, being a total 'newbie' to party plan, I would advise that you get yourself out there and attend as many party plan parties as you can.  Collecting info and taking notes as you go.!!

Good luck to you, with your enthusiasm you will do well!!

Hi,

Thanks ladies,

I'm not soo much looking for templates as I'm pretty good at doing these myself... i guess what i meant to ask is information that i need to obtain to kick it all off.  Such as what type of commission I would offer on kids clothing? also how to work out commissions, such as you sell $500 you get 20% commission kind of thing.  Do i need any other information? like do i need to have some type of contract? > i can do my own catalogue as my dad is a Graphic Designer so i can probably ask him for a bit of help and i also have a friend who's a printer and has done all my business cards, hanging tags etc. so i can probably get them to do the printing on flyers and so forth.  So basically what i need is information.  If i was to start a party plan whereas i'm the host then obviously there would be no commission, but what if someone at the party wants to hold a party,,,, what kind of incentives do you offer? do they need to sign anything?  Should i create order forms?(i'm guessing yes) do you ladies offer lay-by situations? and so forth.

Wow i'm on a roll! i can't wait to put it all together :)

Cheers
