Since i do a fair bit of walking with our boys,I'm thinking of
 doing some letter box drops,
Wondering has anyone had any success doing this?

Personally, I have no had success with letterbox drops  My husband and I did a drop of about 600 fliers a few weeks ago and didn't get any response at all. I'm not giving up though. Will just keep printing off more and moving on to the next suburb.

I don't have children yet, so unfortunately I don't have the advantage of schools and daycare parents to promote the business to.

When i started last year I was ready and raring to go. I wanted to get as many bookings as I could and i remember sitting up late at night, printing, cutting  even distributing the flyers in the evening.

we stood outside shopping centres handing out flyer and even put them on cars back then

I did not know you were not allowed.

anyway NOT ONE PHONECALL.

so basically if you are  trying to succeed in party plan do not count on this avenue as getting your recruits or getting bookings . It just does not work.  It is a lot of hard work. You might get one or 2 if you are really lucky, but this will not grow your business. it is not what you call stability.

I get all my bookings from my shows and my recruits from my shows. I  Never advertise, or  do flyers.

Are you able to grow your business through party bookings???

i have had no luck over the years with letterbox drop - its just time consuming and costly - you are better investing your time and money into doing a local market or something to promote your business. Even putting flyers up on local notice boards is dissapointing - people take the little tare off's for your number, but they never call! I have had many of my numbers ripped off these and not one call yet - bit dishartening.

Like i said - better off investing your time into another advertising avenue!

Hi,

I was actually recruited from a flyer drop! I didn't realise The Body Shop had party plans and as a big fan of the products and the companies values, I signed up almost immediately when I received the flyer in my mailbox!

I too started out sourcing bookings with a flyer drop and while I didn't get an immediate response I have now gotten 2 bookings through these flyers.

I think it comes down to the individual and their circumstances when they receive the flyer. Some might not be interested but some might not be interested right now and may hang on to it for in the future. You might also appeal to someone on the business opportunity side. I really don't think you have anything to loose by doing a flyer drop! Even just getting one or two bookings this way may open you up to a whole new network of business that you would not have found??

Cheers,

Nicole

I am not a big fan of these but they can be successful if done correctly.

1.  Make them catchy - cause it has to stand out from the rest, maybe some flouro card ?? And add a bonus, be the first 5 people to call and book for a bonus ............ (don't limit it to 5 at your end but - NEVER say, oh sorry, you are the 6th person to claim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

2.  Know the area and the housing, what suits and doesn't suit.  In my industry, you just wouldn't do the street with the nice little old ladies who spend their days tending their gardens.  However, a drop in a gated community or similar often gives us great results.

3.  I have had great success in those tear off your number posters on notice boards.

Finally when someone does call randomly, always ask where they got your number, so you do know what does and doesn't work for you!!

Good luck.

thanks everybody for the input about letter box drops.
I was talking to a lady at play group today ,she asked if  I had considered going back to work
and when I said that I have just started to do Emma Page Jewellery as PP,she got all excited
and started to rattle off people who would love to hold a party.
So I am catching up with her on tue for coffee to organise a party, not sure who is more excited
my wife or me,well the ball has stated to move now to gain momentum

One of the things about doing letter box drops is repeat exposure. I read that people don't really "see" your flyer until it hits their hands for the third time.

The first they may look at throw it, after all you may be a fly by nighter.

Second time round you sound familiar, so maybe I'll think about it. And into the recycling pile you go.

Third time round they are now actually reading what you have to say and taking it in.

It's the same with newspaper advertising, most local papers will recommend a three to four week run on an ad as that is how long it takes for people to actually take note of what they are seeing.

It's all well and good to say the only way to build your business is through your parties..but you need to get those first partys to be able to do that. Unless you try different approached you may never get that first improtant booking or recruit. Keep trying and do repeat drops to areas to remind people you are still there.

Thanks Cath! I think I'll go back and do a repeat drop and cross my fingers

Good luck and let us know how you go.
