Ok, so I've got this dreaded flu that's going around and it hit me badly on tuesday, trouble was, I had a party tuesday night.
It was for a friend of mine's mother and I knew that I couldn't postpone last minute (she's one of those hostesses who really goes to a lot of trouble for a party) and I also knew she'd be unhappy if I asked to send another consultant from our team along.
So, I got my partner to drive me (wasn't feeling up to it!) and help me set up, did a brief demo and then took orders.
Tell me, who else works when they're sick? We don't get paid sickies and when sickness comes on suddenly it can be very difficult to get out of doing a party. Having said that, is it unprofessional to turn up to a party when you're ill?

Oh you poor thing. It really is a catch 22 isn't it?? Are you feeling ok now?? Will you be ok to drive to Caloundra in the morning or do you want to pool?

Zammy :( Big hugs hope you feel better soon :) Glad I'm sending hugs through cyberspace though ;)
I've only just started getting rid of my flu now:(
I still worked while I was sick (luckily no one seems to have caught the lurgy from me!). It was awful for me because I had that whole echoing going on while I was talking!! I paused frequently and sipped water from a bottle with a straw - I didn't have any major coughing fits, and it seemed to help with the raspy voice. Keeping a losenger (?sp) in my mouth throughout the party seemed to help keep airways clear :)
Hope you feel better soon :)

Join the club Zammy! There is so much going around at the moment and yes I too have it plus it has gone to my throat and chest. I have been so excited in the lead up to my parties starting that I am now dreading the thought of holding my first party tomorrow night. Thank goodness I have done parties before and not new to it all.
I will be doing my party tomorrow night with a huge smile, a pile of tissues hidden in my pocket and a bottle of water (like Rach). Hopefully the guests will be having to much fun viewing the products that they will not notice just how sick I am!!

Thanks for your concern guys!
I'm feeling a bit better this afternoon, I took a couple of sudafed even though I'm not meant to (they can conflict with other meds) and it's helped clear me up a bit.
I'll be ok to drive tomorrow Julie, but you're a sweetheart!
I'm loving throaties at the moment, they really help with my throat and nose, only trouble is the really strong aniseed smell, I worry that people who don't like it will be offended :/

hope you are feeling better.
if you are really sick maybe it is better not to go as other people might catch it.
sometimes our health is so much more important than anything else.
Look after yourself and relax your body.
take care
