Overcoming Objections

Discussions : Boost your bookings : Overcoming Objections

I thought I would start this topic to help book in those potential host (ess) 's who always have an objection for you.  Sometimes their objections are genuine, at other times, they just need to be shown a bit of confidence from you.  Do you have an objection and not know how to answer it, post it here and let's see if we can overcome it for you.

NB:  When asking questions, never ask a yes/no question, ask questions that require them to give you a specific answer or an either/or question.

Please add to the list:

1.  I don't have a lot of money to spend on food.

'Let's book the demonstration for about 2, just after lunch or 7, after dinner time.  You won't need to provide much at all.  Just a cup of tea and a packet of bisuits or a slice.  I have seen some hostess's who love to put it all on and even have seen sometimes when the food all goes to waste.  Your friends will be coming to see our great products, not just for a free feed.  What time would suit you best, 2 oclock or 7 oclock?'

2.  I don't know many people I could invite/that would be interested.

'You would be surprised at who would be interested in our range, we have something for nearly everyone. And you would be very surprised at just how many people you know.  And remember to ask all your guests to bring a friend.  Why don't you start to fill this list in for me, see how many of these people you can invite and I will give you an extra *** or ****discount.  Would you prefer to get a  **** or a ****disount?'

3.  I am a shift worker and work terrible hours, I could never have a party at my house.

'I understand, have you ever thought of having a catalogue party.  You can take some catalogues to work with you, gather a few orders and I will still be able to award you with some handsome benefits. Would you like me to give you 4 or 5 catalogues to start with ? '

4.  I have the smallest unit in the world, I can't fit more than 2 people in it at once.

'You don't have to have it at your place, let's think outside the square.  Where do you work, what about having it in the office in a lunch hour or after work.  Or do you have a friend or relative that you could hold it at her place, and you could split the host gifts.  Who do you know that would like to get a half price item just for hosting a party with you ?'

5. I don't have anyone to watch my kids!!

Kelly replied:

Ive been pretty cheeky with that one.

Friend said this to me once and my reply was you have a TV dont you!

But seriously... If it has been a weekend, Friday night or school holiday I have offered to bring my eldest daughter who would be more than happy to occupy all of the children that come along.

People have taken this opportunity up. I make sure I bring along plenty of fun things she can do with the kids, dvds, lolly bags etc

The kids think its great.

Offer

Kelly replied:

Or offer them a timeslot during school hours, after bed time?

1.  Jaclyn - you know that excuse don't wash with me.

2. Kelly - what great ideas.

3. Most party planners, don't mind children being present, so long as they are well behaved (oh, dear that might be a problem!!).  In my field for instance I have held parties as late as 9pm, so that the children could be put down by then.
