hello everyone

the kids school is having a fete and they want to charge $100 for a stall, you cant sell anything on the day. but you can take booking  and stuff.

is this about average or is it over the top?

thank very much

tammy

Melinda replied:

Boy $100 thats a bit much isn't it?

I'm doing one shortly for a school, we have a choice of payment options.

$25 for the day including table, tea & coffee all day

or

$10 table hire and $10 per booking made and 10% of sales on the day, tea & coffee all day.

We also donate something from our range to be raffled.

others may have more idea what is the 'norm' but for $100 I wouldn't do it. Hope this helps a little.

I think its a bit much, the school here in my town is having a fete day & they are only charging $10 a stall.

'

And its do what you want in your stall.....

Janine replied:

I personally think $100 for a school fete stall is way over the top. I would not be prepared to pay that much and not be able to sell on the day if I wanted to.

I think between $10 and $30 is more the go. I guess it depends on how the school sells their sites. Like Melinda said she had a choice of 2 different ways she could pay for her stall which is great.

marina replied:

I agree, $100 is too much for a school fete.

max is $25.

i have paid $100 for a bridal expo.

reggie replied:

wayyy to much - espically when you cant sell anything. I would only pay $25 tops like others have said.

thinker replied:

thanks very much i was going to let everyone know about the fete. but the school is just being greedy.

Hi Tammy,
I  have organised a school fete and the average for a stall is $30- with stall holders being able to sell their goods.....

$100-...way over the top in my opinion , l would not be paying that...
Cheers...Kathy

Marie replied:

I do markets and I would never ever pay $100 for a stall. That's insane.

Sounds like the school, hasn't done their homework (haha) even local market stalls don't charged that much for a stall, daylight robery. perhaps they made a mistake and ment $10 per stall.

Kelly replied:

I agree $100 seems way too much to me. The most I've paid is $25 plus the donations that are made.

Graham replied:

Yep!  Way way way too much!

Most charge between $10 and $30.

I am doing one on Friday Night. It is $30 plus a donation from our range to go toward their raffle.

Pretty standard practice.

candlekaren replied:

Hi Tammy,

Maybe you could approach the school and just let them know that $100 is way above what is standardly charged for a stall in this kind of situation. They may look into it a bit more - maybe they aren't getting anyone booking stalls and wondering why?? It would be a shame for you to miss out on this homegrown market!!

i rang and they said  that $100 is far because the stall are quite big. i said that i have spoken to a few people and they all say thats its way to much. they dont seem to care its all about money to them. thanks  everyone.

Graham replied:

Hi Tammy,

Don't forget to let us know how many stalls they end up with.

It will be very interesting to see.

thinker replied:

i will let you know how it all goes.

Kelly replied:

Having reread all of the threads including my own I am now in serious conflicy with myself over this.

As a business woman I see the $100 as too much and I stand by my original post. BUT.... and there always seems to be a but!

As a mother I am in conflict. I find myself asking what is the money being raised for? How would it benefit my children? And being a big softie with my girls and their education i'd probably pay it.
