Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share with you all, that after 8 months of planning , I and my very good friend, held the first official party for our very own pp company , Mummys' Little Helpers, today!!!!!

So excited ( and relieved) that it went well.

The sales totals were a little low, but managed to get 3 bookings, 2 of which, are for next week!

We had a great response, with all the guests commenting on how comprehensive our range is, so that was nice to hear.

Our tag line is "The baby store and more- at your door" and we sell "Practical products for pregnancy, babies and toddlers".

Wow. Still excited, and it was at 10.30 this morning. We have another on Thursday, then next Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Unfortunately our website has been delayed and we can't advertise just yet, but I will be sure to post a link, once it is up and running.

I shall definately sleep well tonight, - so happy, but exhausted now.

Regards,

Andrea - (Hennypenny)

How Exciting for you....Reading your post bought back very similar memories I had 7 years ago when I first launched Horny Little Devils...Its such a relief to know, all that hard work researching  products and getting your systems in place is now going to start to pay off. This is going to be a thrilling year for you and your partner.

Good luck and looking forward to watching your business grow.

Woohooo Andrea - way to go!!

3 bookings from your first party is FANTASTIC!!! I'm sure you'll both do really well with your next lot of parties too! They'll all be excited as they've seen the range now & know what they're in for (which means a lot of "free" advertising among their friends as they'll be talking it all up for you too!!)

Can't wait to hear how everything goes for your future parties! Eagerly awaiting the website launch... (as I'm sure you are too)... so I can send all my girlfriends there!!

Cheers,
Ren

Hennypenny replied:

Hi all,

Thanks so much everyone for all of your well wishes.  It is just great that everyone on this site is so supportive of each others businesses.

I will answer a few of the questions I have received messages about....

Very sorry , but no catalogues available just yet.  We are looking for a way to produce them more economically than what we have recently been quoted . We do have product/price lists however, which has the names and prices of our entire range.(just no pictures) So if anyone would like to see one, just pm me your address. Once the website is live, it will include images of our range.

Re- consultants, we have decided to hold back on taking on consultants for a while, until we are certain that we can provide a viable and profitable opportunity. We would hate for anyone to be put out if the demand is not as high as we are hoping. We are looking into this however and will advise once we are ready to recruit.

We are operating the party plan within the greater Brisbane area, but also accept phone orders.

We had our second party today and it went really smoothly. All of the guests were so lovely, and we really enjoyed showing them our range. Sales were better than the first, with half the number of guests. Unfortunately no bookings today, but its early days yet.

Thanks again for all of your support.

Regards,

Andrea.

Hey Andrea

Great news on your latest party!!! When's the next one? I'm sure you'll do really well at your upcoming parties!! I'm sure you'll get a few more bookings from these parties.

Would love a copy of the product/price list - do you still have my details? (I'll email them through if you don't).

Good luck with the business... I'm sure you'll do really well!! :)

Hi, Well done on your new business venture, your enthusiasm is inspiring, especially to me as I am starting to set up a pp business with a friend at the moment so have all this to come. At the moment one thing we cannot agree on is what a hostess should receive as an incentive and I wondered how you have done this. We have rung several party plan companies but all seem to do it in different ways and as we won't be manufacturing our own stuff, we don't have huge margins to play with. Do we really need to give a hostess gift, plus a percentage of sales and also rewards for bookings? If not, which are the most important and what is a minimum amount that people expect to be rewarded with? It's really hard to second guess and now that we are so involved, it's also really hard to work out what we would be happy with if we were personally considering hosting a party. Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Cheers, rozajo

Congratulations you are doing so well.  I don't reward my hostesses when I do a show.. I reward them when they book and hold a show.  I use booking balloons.. two options of doing it are have a set number with a small product on a piece of paper.  Because I do candles and accessories I buy up big at sales or conference shop and pop a candle in or even have bags of wax which say that they have 45hours of scentedpleasure for themselves.  Depending if I know the people who are booking I give it to them, there and then and if I don't I show them what it is and take it to their party with them.  Seems to work for me.

Our company does reward our hostessess really well .  I do know many of our consultants who don't do hostess or booking gifts.  it is up to the individual..

Best of luck and hope this helps

some other small ideas are bath bombs, iced eye masks... small things which show relaxation for the mum, or mum to be..

Take care
