Hi there, I was just wanting a couple of tips and advice if thats cool with everyone?

As some of you may know from my previouse post, I have just recently started selling tupperware.  At my first party I made a few boo-boo's that mayby if i get some advice from you gals, mayby i can know for nrxt time.

I am going on a 'training party' tomorrow so that will be great, but the more advice the better, eh?!

Ok, when I started my first party, I got there at 9, started at 9.30ish but didnt leave till 1.  I was very tired and exhausted...how do you fasten up the pase?  Do many of you just get in, set up, talk etc take orders then go...or do you tend to be more friendly and stay and chat?

Also, when it comes to sales, parties etc...I find it REALY, REALY, REALY hard to push.  I hate people pushing me, thefore I hate doing it to them.  I am more of a quiet shyer person so I do find it hard...what are your tips on this?  Are there others out there like me, how do you get around this, what do you say etc.

I hope all this makes sense.  Look foward to hearing from you...

1.  You are never pushy, you are passionate.

2.  You're in charge, you set the pace - give them sufficient time, then go and start asking individual people for their orders.  Alternately - start packing up your kit.

Time is money!!  Also, hanging around gives a not so nice impression on customers, they may not feel like hosting a party of their own if they see a consultant that 'hangs' around and doesn't move on quickly.

As soon as i've finished talking i invite the guests to come and try out the products. When they are doing this i starting taking orders from them at the same time one on one. lets you up sell and go for the booking plus they feels special getting your whole attention.

If things are taking too long I've said 'ladies i really hate to rush you but i need to get going in half hour I have another party to do' not always the case but you dont want to be there for hours.

another thing ive done to keep things moving is said that i need to pick up my children and need to leave by such and such a time. let them know up front that you need to be out the door by a certain time

You could alwayts look at it this way - the longer you are there the lower your hourly pay rate is!

Hmmmmm, thanks, somthing to think about.

[ExMember148], I fnd that sometimes passionate can come across as pushy???? I dont know.

The girls at the party I just went to were saying that the last tupperware party they went to the woman was sooooooooooo full on it actually scared all of them.. Noone bought anything and noone wanted to book a party cause they were scared to have this woman in their homes...euuuwww!  Hope that never happens to me!

Hi Butterfly

It really is a very fine line that we walk...too full on and you are too pushy...too shy and timid may be looking like you arn't assertive and arn't passionate about your product..l guess you just need to find out with trial and error what works for you...you will have good and bad experiences but you will learn from each and every one of them....

Good luck with your new business and l am sure you will find your 'groove' and be very successful...
Cheers.....Kathy

Hi Butterfly,
I have found with UCW, I never need to be 'pushy'. I love our garments and I truely believe that hosting a party is the best way to get them. However if someone said they weren't interested I'd never try to make them.
The best way I've found to entice the ladies who are on the fence about booking, is by explaining the benefits of having a party a couple of different times during my presentation and to make the current hostess feel very special, that way all her guests will want to feel that way too.
Also with ending a party promtly, I'm with Kelly, let the guests have some "shopping time" then start the orders one on one, that way they're all going to feel special, you get to ask for bookings quietly and you can keep the pace moving.
Good luck!!!

When i do my parties, i go and set up 1/2 hour before the party starts, then do my speal about the products, the company etc..... Then i invite the guests to come and look at the toys i have and tell them to bring up their orders when they are ready. I normally give them about 15-20 min. to look, and then i start to pack up my kit. In all, my party from start to finish normally take about 2-21/2 hours, depending on the amount of people at the party. I dont hang around, unless its people i know. I normally leave straight after the party is done.

I dont like to seem pushy either. Im a bit shy like that to. I hope that by doing pp, that i can over come this problem in time. Keep going. You will soon work out how to structure your parties. You are in control.

Good luck.
