The costs of catalogues will depend on the PP Company
It will vary from one to the next
Some provide them at a small cost & some provide them at a more
expensive cost
Before starting out with a PP company check out the pricelist for all there catalogues etc

Hi Tammy
I used to do UCW and they used to charge $25 for 25 catalogues, which if you have seen a UCW catalogue is heavily subsidised, and I have a friend who is an Exotix jewelry consultant and she pays $200 for catalogues, not too sure how many but I remember it wasnt that many.
Flaschengeist dont really have catalogues, we have product brochures which are completely paid for by the company, consultants get all brochures, invites, etc for free. We only release 1 new liqueur a month and it is completely up to the consultant if they want to kit it in. Most releases are for the month only so you would only order 1 bottle and it would more than likely only cost you $12 (unless it was a really popular one and then you would order the bigger refill bottle at $20)
You really need to ask the question - What are the ongoing costs to you in regards to paperwork, catalogues, new releases, etc.AND how often new releases are brought out before signing with any pp company.
When I was with UCW we had 4 new releases a year and sometimes it seemed I had only just finished paying for updating my kit when a new catalogue would be released. (no offense to any UCW consultants - I loved UCW and still do)
You would hate to join and find most of your commission going on paperwork.
Good luck with finding one that suits you and your pocket!

Some of larger companies charge almost $6 per catalogue.
I can tell you with certainty that they are making a considerable profit margin from this. We have to be to be neutral with this site, so up to you if you think that is OK.
My personal opinion would be that only the cost price should be recovered by the company for catalogues that promote their own product (obviously it can't be free or consultants would order heaps of catalogues and most would go in the bin)
That's my say
Interested in other opinions!

Our catalogues only cost our Consultants $1 each and they stay current for 3 months. We find that keeping our catalogue releases at just 4 times a year - helps everyone get more value for money with their Catalogues.
We can also get them cheaper than $1 each if we bulk buy.

Hello there,
With Miessence the little boolets/ brochures are very cheep - however what is cheaper, is when your a member you are allowed to downlaod it all free from your own computer, so you are only up for the cost of the printing at home.
Yep! they too have all the Paper work for you to purchase to get you started, though it dosen't change monthly, so your not having to keep changing or keep up, and again it is all available for free off your membership site.

thanks very much, i just didnt want to decide on a company and find out that they were charging well above average for the catalogues, nothing worse than falling in love with a company and spending all of the commission on paper work.
as i am very new to this i have only every held one party (tupperware) late last year i didnt even know that all of the party plan company were around.
then to find out that each company charges what every they like for paper work, host gifts (company/ or paid for by me) different commission rate
boy this is going to take forever to work out what is for me.

Hi Tammy,
Horny Little Devils has a 32 page catalogue, we only charge our consultants 65cents per copy. The catalogues do cost alot more than that to produce in fact around $2.00 per copy. The price of printing, photography and design are all very expensive these days.
Horny Little Devils beleives in helping our consultants make money not spending it for them. Catalogues are one of, if not the most important selling tools a rep can have, so it is important they can afford them. Horny Little Devils consultants also do not pay or contribute to any Hostess Rewards these are covered by the company...Just another way we ensure everyone a WIN WIN situation.....
We only change our catalogue once a year, so there is no having to purchase new stock two or three times a year again saving the consultant money. Most of the time the consultatns can win their new kit exteders via Consultant incentives. If our consultants are doing well then so is the company, so it makes sence to help them as much as possible.

Hi Tammy,
Our catalogues at the moment cost $22.50 for 25 catalogues and they are current for 12 months. We also have competitions on a monthly basis where you can earn products to add to your kit and also catalogues and business products. We also have a points system for sponsoring where you can get lots of other products including catalogues. All our other paperwork is very cheap or free (eg, $3.50 for 100 invitations). It is definitely something worth looking into when you are looking at Party plan companies. Our starter kit (which is free) comes with enough literature to keep you going for quite a while. Also, keep in mind that you are only going to be outlaying money for literature if you are working and hence earning money. Any business you have requires you to invest at least some of your profits back into your business. On a more personal basis, I will be giving all the girls in my team catalogues each month based on their sales for the month, so they can earn them for free just by working. That's an individual leaders option. Hope this helps!!

Hello Thinker
My company does not have a catalogue at all. We do not have to take orders we only sell what we have on the day. So no deliveries and every one goes home happy with there lovely purchases. I think it is great as you do not have to apologise if things are out of stock and the clients do not have a second thought about the order and you see what you are getting on the day not purchasing from a catalogue. Some people like to have a look at what is available and in that case i tell them about the web site so they get to have a look at what is available and they can order online or if they like what they see on there they may book a party to see more. Cheers Julie

Hi all
I am an exotix coordinator and have been for 7 years. When a coordinator spends $200 on our catalogues she will receive 100 catalogues that will last her for a season... which is 6 months... As we are a boutique company in both size and quality we generate quite an expensive catalogue that our clients love having on their coffee table a bit like a fashion magazine which they can refer to as they need their accessories.
Catalogues are tools of the trade and if you give your event organiser a catolgue even if they cost you $3 each you should in fact be looking at what exactly that buys you... business if you get a recruit, ongoing income if you achieve a booking and of course petrol money if you get a sale on the night...
With our company when a new consultant joins they receive their first 10 packs included in their start up costs which helps the new coordinator but after then they need to fund their own.
hope that helps... to be honest I think you need to look at the commission structure closer and the hidden hosts that are deducted or misrepresented upon initial enquiries.

I know you have to come up with the $$$ first to buy catalogues but IT IS a cost that comes off your tax, so I really don't sweat much about what I pay in them or kit. Anything to get that bill down at the end of the year.

Hi Tammy
I have read with interest the varies comments about your question. The company I am with Essential Additions has a core catalogue which we call our "favourites", these are $20 for a pack of ten and only change once maybe twice a year depending on product supply. These are a fabulously presented catalogue that I know costs my company a lot to produce as it is a very high quality and they subsidise the rest of the cost. We then have a fashion update flyer released every 4 to 6 weeks, these are often limited release or seasonal products that will last for varying amounts of time, these are usually 2 or 4 pages long and are $1.50/pack of ten for the 2 page and $3.00/pack of ten for the 4 page.
I have always looked on my stationery costs as a tool to run my business, they are tax deductible and necessary....The thing to do with them is use them wisely. We also have a great mini brochure and website that customers can refer to rather than handing out catalogues willy nilly(not sure if I spelt that right, hope you know what I mean). So if someone asks for a catalogue, I nicely say"Here is one of our mini catalogues which shows a selection of the range and the website is listed on the back; you can jump online and see everything available, then if you decide to book your own presentation you will get a catalogue in your hostess pack"
Also remember that your catalogue has the potential to bring you lots of money and business, so never be stingey with your hostesses, the more catalogue sales they get, the more money they have to spend and also the more commission back into your pocket, just one outside order with pay for the catalogue several times over.
One last tip is to cut your brochures up that you use at the parties and put them into display folders, that way they always look fresh no matter how many paople have looked at them...This is also good for the ones you leave in the school canteen and hairdressers etc.
I have also been in party plan for 7 years and think, you have asked a great question, however I agree with Jewellerybabe, please make an informed decision about all other aspects of the party plan company you are venturing into, I am a great advocate of p/plan in general, and I think at the end of the day, they all end out the same, some have higher commissions, some more expenses and some are easier to book that the others, go with what you like it will mostly all work out the same.
All the best, sorry if I have rambled a bit....

Hi there,
The Diva Cosmetics catalogues are 65 cents each (plus GST) and they don't change very often. The current catalogue came out mid last year and will be changing again mid this year, so this current one has lasted one year. We only change when there is a new product introduced. There are no additional catalogues to be purchased. You do receive some in your initial kit too. Just reading the replies there are soooooo many different prices so I guess there is no standard! I reckon the other thing to consider is how often your product is changing as well eg. do you have a seasonal release of new product that you need to pay for or do you get it for free? I know some companies allow you to get it for free if you meet certain targets. That was a big thing for me when I was considering my options because I didn't want to have to change my kit of product to show people every 3 to 6 months.
Hope this info helps you out & good luck with your decision (if you haven't already made it).
Cheers
