Hello - I am also from Brisbane and I am new to all of this.
I went into a chat room last night and posted some questions I am dying to have some answers to and note there is no response.  So I feel like a goose as I don't know what i am doing!!!!!

MY QUESTION:  Can I claim 100% back on expenditure for Hostess Gifts and prizes?  What about promotional material - you know give something away free.  Can I claim this back?

I have done all the reading from the ATO website and you can only read so much - but in the end you need people with the experience who can answer your questions.  I am hoping some kind lovely person out there will feel my desolation and answer my query!!!!

I look forward to more discussions and learning from other wonderful people.

Hi Michelle,
Welcome to the site :)
As this is my first financial year with a Party Plan, I'm not sure on your question, but I'm sure someone else here will know!
I'm pretty sure you will be able to claim 100% of hostess gifts and prizes against your tax though :)
You too are of course invited to the meetup next week, the more the merrier!

Hi Michelle,

Yes you can claim Hostess Gifts and promotional materials as long as you have a receipt.

Any gifts I purchase for my team members I can claim back. Examples are perfumes, handbags, candles, photo frames, etc. I buy these as gifts and claim them as part of expenditure for the business.

Hi there

Welcome, just ask and you normally get an answer around here!! So much experience.

Just remember, you should always get advice from you independant tax agent though, not take word of someone in cyber space, no matter how experienced they are.  This saves anyone's but from being kicked because they gave wrong info or the info was misinterpretted.

Also, remember to use the search facility and you may find answers to your questions before you even ask them!

Cheers

Hi Michelle,   what the others have said above is all totally true.

Although, keep in mind that their are companies like the one I'm with (Saucy Fish Jewellery) that actually provide the Hostess Benefits and gifts for you.

Welcome to the site - great to see another local on here.   I live at Beachmere (near Bribie Island/Caboolture way).

Enjoy & ASK AWAY!!   Kath
