I have been promoting the product first.  I just wondered though if this was the case for everyone or if some of you promote the opportunity first and if yes are you sucessful with it?

Rach :)

I promote the product first but I guess it depends on the situation. Never really thought of it before - Thanks Rach looking forward to the responses!

Kelly replied:

Opportunity first.

For two reasons really

  1. the extra money could make a huge difference to someone
  2. even if they say no its not for me, you've given them a huge compliment and boosted their self esteem  by saying that you think they would be brilliant at what you do

We have always been taught to concentrate on Sponsoring first, then Bookings, then Sales. If you do the first two, the sales seem to come naturally. If you need to push for sales then I think you are selling the wrong product. Most PP products sell themselves I feel. Wouldn't you agree??

Kelly replied:

We've been trained the same way. if you really love your products its more about recommending them rather than selling. Your passion shows through and people will want what youve got!

RachelSaucy replied:

I'm assuming you girls are answering this from the point of view that the person is from a party/you've met before/you've established they have heard of your products etc ...

I should have been clearer in my original question ...

I was referring more to someone you have not previously met/Brand New contacts ie the lady behind you in the shopping queue or the lady sitting beside you at the doctors, someone that you are unlikely to ever cross paths with again, you've just broken the ice and chatted about their job and just about to tell them what you do - in the small window of opportunity ... Do you promote the product or the opportunity?

If you still promote the opportunity, have you had any success from it?  What do you say (I'm guessing after speaking with her for only a couple of mins you're not going to say I think you'd be great at what I do - or do you?)

The reason I promote the product first is because I'm thinking that in these cases you really do have a very small window of opportunity, so as Karen, said when I pull out a catalogue the products sell themselves and you have one interested party that can be followed up with when you get home and you have more time to tell her about the opportunity.

Hi Rach,

I have been doing the product first as it is an extention from my Beauty business, as Miessence is the Skin Care I use professionally -

However my sponsor is in the process of training me more and more about network marketing, and the oppertunity seems to be the way to go first. I am yet to do the bump into somebody and launch thing, I guess I could really choose to, I might actually get a team together quicker being assertive than passive.
