I'd like to suggest - to really get this great site rockin' - that we give a prize for the best subject posted each month. We could maybe all take turns in being the judge for the month, and then sending a little prize to the winner. Prize doesn't have to be much and we could even set a value limit like $5 - $8 if you like since there would be postage to pay for as well. It would just be lovely to get a little something in the mail.
By this I mean the best topic posted - so it would be the "member that posts the best topic and gets it rolling" rather than the best one to reply to the topic. This way it may encourage more people to start a topic rolling. Doesn't necessary mean the one that gets the most replies either - just whichever the Judge thought was the best. Of course the winners decision would be final and they would be out of the running to win for that month.
If you like the idea, I'm happy to put my hand up to be the October judge and to donate a prize to send to the winner (I could just PM the winner after I've selected them to get their mailing address).

Perhaps, if we had this as a pinned topic somewhere then everyone that wanted to be involved could just volunteer a month they would be the judge. I think its best if we do stipluate a value so that everyone is donating about the same price level, and also each person volunteering to judge needs to pay for the postage to the winner. If we had the judging and announcement of the winner on the first of each month - it would work fine. Something like this?

We have one "volunteer judge" per month supplying the gift worth say $10.00 retail and the delivery of that item to the winner.
Are you are going to do October Kath? I can do November. Who would like December Ladies!
I can talk about it further later with my "graphic designer" and work out how we can set up something pretty on the forum for this topic.
It would also be nice to know what was given for the prize as well.... get everyone excited about what they might get!

I like the idea of getting a "surprise" in the mail, but if you want to list what we will be giving that is fine too. I was thinking that when the winner got their surprise in the mail, that they would then let everyone know what they got (and how wonderful it is!)
If you wanted to go with retail value, I'm also happy to bump this up to say $20 - $25 - afterall I think we all get discounts from our company's don't we? Totally up to everyone else though of course - perhaps we could stipulate no gift vouchers as prizes too, this way nobody is obligated to place an order, etc..

My thoughts on the prizes however, I think that if we make a limit of $15 per gift plus the postage, with no gift vouchers.
Just thinking of the clothing party plan ladies. It would be hard for them to supply something from thier range. But of course the gift does not have to be from the judges range (or does it?)
How about having a random judge, only the judge and party plans would know who it is. Then when the winner recieves their prize they will get a bigger surprise. Just thinking that if everyone knew that I was the judge for a month, they would probably expect to receive candles or soap. But if they didnt know who the judge was they wouldnt know what sort of prize to expect.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
I am happy to put my hand up and be a judge.
Looking foward to this, I think it will be a lot of fun.

This has been a great suggestion and If admin is listening than please everyone really wants this and we surely need to get it, even though some say minimums matter I think it will be up for the prize person (the person that sends the prizes) to actually select what they wish to have as the prize, this makes it fair for those who can and cannot afford everything and im sure we can all afford something.
Let me be first to say that I think judges should be one a month and their should be another person or the same person that supplies the prizes, this makes it always fair. I would love to have prizes from my range of toys, homewares, cosmetics and more. I also think that their should be runner up prizes and let me first to say that I have beauty bag sets, brand new that I need to get out of my house, I could supply as many as you want, I have to many (I have hundreds), postage is not to much of a matter unless its over 20 items.
Im glad that everyone supports the idea.

Or will we all know how the judge will be for the month???
Then we have to work out the competition itself......
We could have it for the best topic on a certain board.

Great idea girls. I am happy to be a judge and donate a prize sometime in the future. I think we need at least 12 judges so that it would only be once a year at the most. If Partyplan chooses the judges then each will have to register their willingness to participate.

We now have a little competition system in place (Just debugging it!).
It is a game called "Low Bid". The idea is to place bids (using virtual credits.. not real money ) and the member with the lowest unique bid at the end of the round is the winner . You do not know what the other players are bidding, so basically you have to guess the lowest number that nobody else has guessed .
For example - a bid of " 1 " is the lowest possible bid... but everyone will probably make that bid.. so it will not be unique and will not win.
You can make multiple bids... so the catch is... you need credits to place a bit. You get credits by making posts in the forum or referring collegues to the site .
The winner gets a prize from the sponser of the month.
Questions:
should the sponser be anonymous until the end of the competition or should people know what they are playing for? (BTW Credits will reset to zero after every competion.. so use them or lose them)
What would the sponsers like as an incentive? A profile page for the month?

I think that we should keep the judge or the sponser anonymous.
That way it will give the winner all the more surprise when they receive their prize.
A profile for the following month would be a fantastic insentive.
You can count me in as a sponser.
Cant wait to hear more about how we make our bids etc.

This is a great idea.
There is no reason why we cannot run more than one competition. We could have a different sort of competition each month.
I dont think that admin has dismissed the idea of doing any other competition, they just have this one as well. I dont see any harm in that.
We are looking at what sort of competitions to have.
Its hard to decide that on a site like this, with so many people coming in.
We could have a competion for the post that gets the most replies.
A competition for the most interesting topic.
Its hard to get this up and going, so I think the bidding competition is a great start.

UMMMMMM PARDON!!!! adulttoysatdj please remember that when you are posting your replys that you are not speaking on behalf of us all. This is the 2nd post I've seen of yours this morning that says we all want this or something similar ???
On behalf of myself - and me only - I would like to say that I think the more competitions the merrier!! I like the idea of the 2nd competition you mentioned partyplans and I DO NOT dislike it. Of course I love the idea of the 1st competition as well (since I came up with it) - but any thing that is easy to organise will be fun I'm sure.

Anyways I think both competitions are great and I look forward to seeing more of them, however I do believe personally that we should still have the first one and I don’t mind if we have the second one.

Can someone tell me if anything came of the Monthly Competion for best Topic posted idea? I'm just back from Cairns - and as I put my hand up to be judge for October, I'm not really sure if it all happened or not ????
If its all gone by the way side - no worries - just don't want to sound like I'm renegging on my promise to judge as I'm still quite happy too.

The "best topic" competition will be implemented 'soonish'.
The idea will be to place voting / rate this topic buttons at the bottom of every post. That way everyone can be a judge.
The inbuilt rules would be simple:

Yes. This will be implemented.
We still need to work out the benifits for prize sponsers
(Ideas?)
Prizes should be in the $50-$100 retail value range, so sponsers should get some quality advertising space etc.
Current thinking is to give an exclusive full size banner ad on every page of the forum for the duration of the sponsered competition (ie A big colourfull banner in place of the google ads you currently see)
Once over, the sponsers ad would then remain in the "competition winners archive"
...problem is that prizes may need to be bigger for that
(So far today, we have had over 200 unique visitors and we are not in peak time yet)
There are quite a few business owners on here, so I am interested in your thoughts. (actually interested in everyones thoughts!)
